Fighting the flu.

THAwebsite_FluSoup_Illust_Base.jpg

As flu season rolls around, all of us at Texas Health Aetna are reminding and encouraging members and their families to get their flu shots.

Why is it important?

The flu virus causes millions of illnesses, missed school and workdays, and serious complications for those with serious chronic conditions. The shot helps shield you and yours from all this and reduces transmission of the virus.

What if you got a shot last year?

The CDC recommends people get vaccinated every year as part of their health and wellness routine. Since the viruses can vary and your body’s immune response can decline over time, the flu shot’s formula is changed and strengthened annually to provide increased protection.

When should you get it?

Before the end of October.

How to get the flu shot.

You can schedule an appointment with a pharmacist by visiting cvs.com or get one with a provider at minuteclinic.com – at no cost to you*.

For more information, please visit the CDC site.
